You are playing no limit at your local casino, the blinds are $ 2-5. You have $300 in front of you and that is about average for the entire table. You are sitting early position and holding Kh Qh.
Both blinds are in and the action is to you. You will obviously raise here but how much?
A) 15
B) 20
C) 25
D) 30
I would raise it to 25 at the least. So you do raise to 25, the action is folded to the cutoff player (one before the button) and he re-raises quickly to 80. What do you do?
A) Fold
B0 Call
C) Raise
This is a rather delicate move and before you act you must know your opponent. By this point, I hope that you have watched and observed the player and know a bit about how he plays. This will all depend on the player.
If the player is a weak player then RE-RAISE back
If the player is tight and solid, CALL OR FOLD
IF you believe he is making a move then Raise back or just call and see what develops. You have a strong hand and you shouldn’t overplay it though.
Say you decided to simply call the 80.
Flop comes 10c 5s Js
Now you are in business and have a solid hand.
You can either check raise here if you feel the player will bet out or simply bet out. Either way you have to attack and bet. Check calling to hit your hand is a disaster and that is not the way to play poker.
